There are over 200 million migrants around the world today and 85 million of them are from East Asia. OMF International’s Diaspora Ministries global team seeks to evangelize and disciple East Asians who are scattered across the globe, living away from their home countries, for work, study or migration reasons. We seek to prepare and equip them to bring the gospel back to their own people and others. This could involve reaching Mainland Chinese in Canada, Japanese in Germany or Thais in Australia. As East Asian immigrants, international students and migrant workers move around the world, we seek to reach them with the life-saving message of Jesus Christ so that they can share it with their communities or take the gospel with them when they return home or move on to other locations. Our vision is to see a worldwide movement of East Asians discipled and sent out to their own people and beyond! We are looking for people called by God to join us in our outreach to the East Asian diaspora — in Europe, Asia, Australasia and North America. You could come as a volunteer or as a full-time worker. Let’s count the ways you could be involved: • Start a Bible study for international students. • Attend international holiday events (e.g., Chinese New Year, Japanese Spring Festival, Oktoberfest) and meet people. • Host events to celebrate Christmas, Thanksgiving, Canada Day, etc. • Partner with organizations such as international students ministries or Christian university fellowships or migrant worker welfare groups. • Befriend newcomers to your country, welcome and introduce them to your church and community. • Offer English classes for internationals through your church. • Offer students help with rides for groceries and other errands. • Host an “Around Town” event: take internationals new to your area on a tour of different points of interest. We are seeking workers who: • Have a passion to reach East Asians visitors in your community. • Have the ability to speak these visitors’ native language. • Have a heart for evangelism, and the creativity and initiative to try out new outreach models and strategies. • Have flexibility and the ability to function well in unstructured situations. • Are willing to commit time to language and culture study if they are sent out to a third country. • Have the willingness to adjust to a new environment. If you have the heart to reach out to East Asians in your home country and would like to find out more, contact us.
