Teach at a University in your area of expertise and mentor, train and disciple believers with the focus of mobilising them to share the good news of Jesus with their neighbors.
Some universities in South East Asia have a substantial number of minority Christians attending. Join us in encouraging and equipping these believers to be witnesses for Jesus to their fellow students and in their future workplace. We want to see the many Christians in Indonesia mobilised to share the good news of Jesus with their own people as well as cross-culturally.
- Lecturing and holding seminars in your area of expertise. - Mentoring and discipling Christian university students. - Sharing the good news of Jesus to those who have not heard about him. - Contributing to team life.
- Experience in sharing the good news, mentoring and discipling. - A Masters or Doctorate degree in your area of expertise. - Examples of expertise are: sciences, mathematics, medicine, engineering, English and others. - For native English speakers there are opportunities to teach English if one has a general Bachelor's degree. A special note: It is also possible to come initially as a Master or Doctorate student and then move into a teaching position later.
You will be living in a busy, vibrant city, where housing ranges from simple wooden shacks to massive mansions. While it's a busy place with lots of mopeds and people on the streets, it is also close to rural areas and great scenery. Socially, people are very friendly. Community and family are a very important part of their lives. Festivals and family events are a big part of everyone's lives. Weather, like anywhere in the tropics, can be very hot and humid but the rainy season brings relief for a few months of the year. Cultural sensitivity - there is a need to be culturally sensitive in dress and lifestyle. It is important that men relate to men and women relate to women. Schooling - different schooling options are available if you have kids, including International Schools or schools with English speaking curriculum.
If God has given you a heart for the peoples of East Asia, you can be part of God's purposes for them in different practical ways, even in your home country.
