Male workers needed (singles, couples or families) to join a team in Cambodia serving a minority people group.
We are working among a minority people group in Cambodia of around 400.000 people. Most have never heard Jesus' message or known His love for them. Many live in a rural context. There are not many workers with a vision to serve this people group. We have gifted female team members who have had an impact on this people group. There were male team members in the past who established good relationships to other men. Our vision is to bless whole households and communities. From a cultural perspective, only men can relate to other men to form deep and meaningful relationships. So we need more men to join this team!
* You will spend your first 1 ½ years learning the Khmer national language full-time, along with studying culture and worldview. * After the initial study time, you will move in order to learn the minority group's heart language in their location. * After your move, you can take up a role in the community context. This could be in a city or in a more rural setting. There are practical needs for clean drinking water, training in hygiene and basic medical clinics. The people would also like to learn English, Chinese, Korean and computer skills.
Usually a bachelor's degree is required to apply for a work visa. A professional background in teaching (especially Chinese, English or Korean), or social work is an asset. Setting up a small-scale business is an option that can be explored.
The applicant should be prepared to live an appropriate lifestyle within the community in which they will live. Among other things, this relates to dressing modestly, and being sensitive to the dietary restrictions of our neighbors. This is very helpful, as it would build bridges with neighbours and friends. It also means adapting the language we use to communicate Jesus' message in a way people will understand. In the local culture, it is important that the men relate to the men and the women relate to the women.
Cambodia is looking for pioneers and partners to open new avenues for the Gospel, build up the local church, and disciple believers in the workplace.
