Want to gain insight in to mission, life discipleship training and on the job work experience? OMF UK is offering a Mission Internship to enable young adults to gain work experience while working in the Serve Asia department. We plan that you will be able to visit East Asia for one month as part of a Serve Asia team. An alternative placement with East Asian diaspora in the UK can be arranged. During this year you will have the opportunity to be involved in life discipleship training. Serve Asia is a long-term discipleship programme, designed to raise up and equip the next generation of missionaries, to be at the forefront of mission in East Asia and able to work and lead effectively in a rapidly changing world. We faciliate churches sending people to East Asia on short-term missions, for between 1-11 months. After a placement in East Asia we aim to encourage alumni in to develop in their engagment with world mission. We are also committed to helping raise up the next generation of leaders. The Mission Internship will play an important role in encouraging short-term mission to Asia amongst UK Christians and to East Asia disapora in the UK. Interns will get to take part in a team in Asia or amongst East Asian diapora in the UK themselves. They will be involved in orientation, debriefs and follow-up of those who have been on a Serve Asia placement. Those choosing the individual placement track will also have an opportunity to share their experience in Asia or the UK, with churches, Mission Cells and at OMF conferences. The internship is based at the OMF national office in Kent. Borough Green is a town of 4500 people, located a few miles from Sevenoaks and Maidstone and is 45 minutes from London by train.
Our interns will work in the OMF Office for approximately 10 months, helping facilitate the placement of Short-term workers in Asia. Interns spend one month in Asia or amongst East Asia diaspora in the UK on a Serve Asia placement themselves. Serve Asia workers attend Bible and mission training in a local church once a week.
No specific qualifications are required. However an ability to work in an office environment and basic computer skills are needed. Please also note you are required raise part of the finance for this role. Currently £3750 for your time in the OMF office in Kent and approximately £1750 for your time in East Asia.
Being flexible and willing to learn is important. The internship is a time to try new things and also to be open to God transforming and challenging you in terms of your discipleship.
If God has given you a heart for the peoples of East Asia, you can be part of God's purposes for them in different practical ways, even in your home country.
