Come and minister at a church. Serve alongside a local pastor, preaching, teaching and/or discipling local believers. Lead small groups encouraging and equipping the believers to be witnesses for Jesus in their university or workplace.
As a pastor or church worker, your aim will be to support the existing church leadership. You will assist by discipling new believers, helping them develop a firm biblical foundation and encouraging them to share His love with others. Facilitating small groups and developing good personal relationships will be a core element of this ministry.
You will serve alongside a pastor in a local church, taking on responsibilities corresponding to your gifting and ministry experience. This may include preaching, teaching and facilitating small groups. Your first year will be devoted to learning the language and culture. You will be an active member of a local ministry team.
Bachelor of Theology (B.Th.), Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or Master of Theology (M.Th.)
You will be living in a busy, vibrant city, where housing ranges from simple wooden shacks to massive mansions. While it's a busy place with lots of mopeds and people on the streets, it is also close to rural areas and great scenery. Socially, people are very friendly. Community and family are a very important part of their lives. Festivals and family events are a big part of everyone's lives. Weather, like anywhere in the tropics, can be very hot and humid but the rainy season brings relief for a few months of the year. Cultural sensitivity - there is a need to be culturally sensitive in dress and lifestyle. Schooling - different schooling options are available if you have kids, including International Schools.
If God has given you a heart for the peoples of East Asia, you can be part of God's purposes for them in different practical ways, even in your home country.
