We want to see God glorified through Philippine society exhibiting the Biblical kingdom value of Shalom: peace, harmony, wholeness, prosperity and welfare. The Philippines is one of the fastest urbanizing countries in the East Asia and Pacific regions. In the past five decades the urban population grew by over 50 million people, with more than 50% of Filipinos living in urban contexts, and a majority of rural poor are driven to the cities for survival. While urbanization can provide enormous opportunities for growth, job creation and poverty reduction, when unmanaged, it can lead to congestion, pollution and inequality. As of the 2020 Philippine Census of Population, 30% of the 110 million Filipino citizens are aged 15 and under. We are looking for people willing to live incarnationally, willing to study community development and creation care in the Filipino context. People who are willing to work with others whose lives have been crushed by poverty, oppressed by wealthy patrons and are unable to break free from cycles of debt. Come for 3 years and spend 50% of your time in theological education, learning language and studying culture to understand who the urban poor people are. If you thrive, we would encourage you to stay on for another 4 years, returning home every two years for two or three months, in order to learn a second Filipino language. Short term trips are encouraged to gain insight to the situation.
