Over 25,000 international students study in the city of Chicago, many from East Asian countries. Reach out to and disciple international students with teammates from different organizations.
Our team in Chicago interacts with hundreds of new international students each year. Working together with an experienced, multicultural team, you will grow in your ability to minister to people from many religious and cultural backgrounds. As part of this team, you will invest in the lives of international students, evangelizing and discipling individuals with a special focus on preparing returnees before their return to East Asia. We partner with other campus ministries, churches and other organizations in order to prepare returnees to thrive in their home countries.
You would likely be involved in: - Leading Bible studies - Leading small groups - One on one evangelism and discipleship - Large outreach events and outings - Providing practical help with adjusting to life in a new country. - Preparing returnees through mentoring, coaching, counseling and discipling. You may also be involved in: - Offering training for groups/ churches/ organizations. - Mobilizing individuals to reach out to international students - Helping lead seminars or retreats designed to prepare returnees to thrive as believers in their home country.
All team members will need: -A good level of English in order to function as part of our team. Proficiency in East Asian languages is beneficial, but may not be required initially. For long term engagement with us, we would help you gain some level of proficiency in a language of one of the primary East Asian people groups we are working with. - Perseverance - Flexibility - A pioneering spirit to be able to reach out to and disciple students/scholars. - Abiliy to work cooperatively with other missionaries, other mission organizations and local ethnic churches.
Chicago is a world-class city of 3 million people with vibrant and diverse communities of people from around the world. You must already have a valid work permit or be a citizen of the US. We are not able to arrange for visas and work permits.
