Teaching Third Culture Kids (TCKs) at Morrison Christian Academy
Providing good educational opportunities for Missionary Children is key to keeping missionaries on the field. In addition Morrison Academy reaches out to many non Christian Taiwanese children from rich elite families By supporting missionaries through teaching their Children. Providing teachers with a strong mission calling to strengthen the work of Morrison Academy. Provide a partnership link between OMF international and Morrison Academy Morrison teachers tend to live in fairly high quality housing but OMF would encourage members to engage where possible with local culture.
* Learning some Chinese. (It is recommended that those planning to teach at Morrison first spend up to one year studying Mandarin. This will help the teacher to fit into the local area and be more comfortable living and reaching out to the Taiwanese.) * After language study the teacher will then work according to the employment contract signed with Morrison. * Besides teaching and school activities, there are many other opportunities in local churches and the community for outreach.
* Appropriate teaching qualifications and certification. The detailed requirements can be found on Morrison's website: www.mca.org.tw * The applicant should possess a sense of God's leading in their profession and a willingness to live out their Christian faith, in and out of the classroom. * As an OMF member, the teacher should also be willing to identity and support OMF's vision of reaching the working class Taiwanese for Christ.
It is possible for teachers at an international school to live in an ex-pat bubble. However if becoming members of OMF then we expect a greater level of engagement with local people and culture.
Taiwan is a wealthy country and is wide open to Christian activities and to missionary work.
