Job Description

A significant percentage of Filipinos live in urban poor communities, and most have inadequate access to primary health care, or no basic knowledge and skills for dealing with simple health issues. By providing such care and training, you can manifest the love of Christ.
Initially there is an opportunity to work alongside a nurse and be trained in community health. Working in partnership with other BL ministries, you will have opportunities to assess and address primary health care needs in marginalized communities in and around Manila, a mega city of 20 million people. Urgently needed is someone who can also train community-based primary health workers - mostly mothers - with the aim that in all the house churches there is someone who is knowledgeble about general health and first aid principles. As you grow in knowledge of the Philippines urban poor culture and Tagalog language, you will have opportunities to expand your ministry.


- visit communities regularly to train, teach and treat local people, using Tagalog as much as possible
- work with existing government health clinics in treating TB patients
- learn about and implement the medical help practices advocated by the Community Health Evangelism (CHE) principles
- participate in regular BL meetings


We are looking for people:
- who have compassion for the poor

- with significant nursing experience
- who have diagnostic abilities
- with knowledge about primary health care
- with knowledge about primary health care medicines
- with a minimum of two years of Bible school (seminary) training with cross-cultural studies or equivalent
- with a gift of teaching and training
- able to work independently, but also willling and able to work as part of a team
- who are flexible and adaptable
- who are able to live simply
- who are able to cope with marginalized people who always have needs

- A period of language, culture and worldview learning will be expected upon joining the Field
