Contributing to indigenous church movements among Vietnam's unreached peoples through a business
It is the goal of the Vietnam Field to see indigenous church movements among all segments of Vietnamese society. Currently business owners and professionals are very under-represented in the Vietnamese church. In addition, the ethnic Vietnamese and several large minority groups in smaller cities and towns in the north of Vietnam remain some of the least reached people in the whole country. We desire to see workers engaging in evangelism, discipleship, and church planting among the following demographics: Business-people and professionals in major cities, the ethnic Vietnamese in smaller cities and towns, and ethnic minority groups in unreached areas. In the case of business-people and professionals, running a missional business could provide an entry into these social circles and a viable witness in the marketplace through word and deed. In the case of least reached areas, a missional business can provide access, blessing to the local community, and a means of carrying out ministry in areas that might be otherwise closed to more traditional work.
• Spend around 2 years learning the national language • Learn the local culture and the local business context for launching a business that is relevant to the community with a viable plan for achieving ministry goals • Work with the field and a local team to ensure a good fit for the business and ministry strategy • Obtain financing and resources needed for a successful launch of your business (the organization can help) • Build relationships, share the good news, and disciple believers to reach their people • Partner with / build a team of existing believers (if already available) and near culture believers to communicate the good news in the province(s) of focus • Ideally there will be a correlation to the amount of time spent in the business with the effectiveness of that business in putting you in regular contact with the people. The broader ministry team can help you think through specific opportunities. • If you have a family, consider the opportunities and challenges of running a business and the effects on your family and work with the field to develop a plan for long term sustainability.

- If focused on reaching business people and professionals, it may mean living in the Capital or another major city - If focusing on generally less reached areas or working with minorities it may mean living in a small city or outer province • These areas have the essentials but not much else in the way of modern comforts • From 2-8 hours away from the Capitol • There may or may not be other foreigners in the city / Town • There may or may not be local believers in the city
