Want to gain insight in to mission, life discipleship training and on the job work experience? OMF UK is offering a Media Internship to enable young adults to develop their media and communication skills within a mission environment. During this year you will have the opportunity to be involved in life discipleship training. We plan that you will be able to visit East Asia for one month as part of a Serve Asia team. An alternative placement with East Asian diaspora in the UK can be arranged. As a team, we want to equip our supporters, workers and mobilisers to be the best world mission (and East Asia) advocates in the UK. By providing resources, training and tools, we want to increase the profile of world mission, grow prayer and raise awareness of what God is doing in East Asia. Everything we do depends on compelling content. Whether it’s video, magazine or web, we need intriguing material to tell the story. We then look for the right channel to engage with people effectively. There are a number of key areas in the team that interns can get directly involved, which will contribute to fufilling the vision of the Media department: Graphic Design and layout of OMF’s publicity material for conferences and training events. Attending Christian festivals as part of the OMF exhibition team. Developing resources for OMF workers and candidates to use in the UK: PowerPoint/Prezi, personal profile cards, prayer newsletters. Working to develop prayer materials for OMF including online, email, print and possibly app channels for prayer content. Producing content and managing social media campaigns. The internship is based at the OMF national office in Kent. Borough Green is a town of 4500 people, located a few miles from Sevenoaks and Maidstone and is 45 minutes from London by train.
Our interns will work in the OMF Office for approximately 10 months, based in the Media department. There are opportunities to develop existing media skills and learn new ones. Interns spend one month in East Asia or UK on a Serve Asia placement themselves. Serve Asia workers attend Bible and mission training in a local church once a week.
A qualification in media, communications or product design is desireable. A background in media or communications is required. An ability to work in an office environment, team and computer skills are needed. Please also note you are required raise part of the finance for this role. Currently £3750 for your time in the OMF office in Kent and approximately £1750 for your time in East Asia.
Being flexible and willing to learn is important. The internship is a time to try new things and also to be open to God transforming and challenging you in terms of your discipleship.
