Could you help students to grow into their full potential as disciples of Christ and motivate them to act as Christ in their nation?
Christian students have great potential to transform the lives of many as they help other students know more about Christ on campus and beyond. Come alongside them to challenge, disciple and encourage them. Help them to grow into their full potential as followers of Jesus, sharing His love with others. We would love to see more local believers becoming a living display of Jesus’ love for the world and so to transform the lives of many. You would become a language student initially and then have the opportunity to continue on campus as a student. If you have the desire to become a university lecturer or university researcher this is another possibility
You will relate to students initially to help your language acquisition and then later focus on discipling and encouraging students. You will be working with others and supported by a mentoring-coaching relationship. However, you will also be expected to take initiative and develop your own ministry.
- A desire to see others grow in their discipleship journey and following through on God's call on their lives. You would have some experience in discipling others and sharing the love of Christ, either on campus or in your church context. A bachelor’s degree in any subject would qualify you to enroll into a master’s degree course of your choice for two years. A master’s degree could qualify you to seek a position as a university lecturer, conduct research or enroll for a PhD.
You will be located in a big city with a significant student population. You would need to be content with a simple lifestyle, using public transportation, and facing the everyday challenges of living in a big city. Out of our relationship with Christ flows our love for our neighbors and our desire to see others grow in representing Him. This is the training ground for learning a servant heart and depending on Him through prayer. The applicant should be prepared to live an appropriate lifestyle within the community in which they will live. Among other things, this relates to dressing modestly, and being sensitive to the dietary restrictions of our neighbors. This is very helpful as it would build bridges with neighbours and friends. In the local culture it is important that the men relate to the men and the women relate to the women.
If God has given you a heart for the peoples of East Asia, you can be part of God's purposes for them in different practical ways, even in your home country.
