Many people come from different parts of the world to the UK and Ireland for work or study. Many of them belong to the different nationalities and ethnicities of East Asia. They are usually curious about UK /Irish culture and the Christian faith. Most of these international people will ultimately return to their home countries; we want them to be equipped to bring the gospel home. As God is moving East Asia's peoples around the world, many are coming in contact with Christianity, often for the very first time. As you work alongside OMF and Friends International colleagues to share friendship and faith in Jesus with international people, you become part of building God's kingdom in the UK and Ireland. As international people get to know Jesus and pass on their experience of him in their home countries and beyond, your influence can play a part in building God's kingdom all across the world. The UK and Ireland have a growing number of cities and towns that have become multicultural, including Manchester, Belfast, Cambridge, London, Bournemouth and Dublin. These are popular destinations among international students. They each have their own fascinating and unique histories. They are culturally diverse, with pockets of people from all around the world.
List of regular responsibilities the Serve Asia Worker will have: • Participate in OMF’s orientation to intercultural ministry. • Learn how the East Asian church can be built up through local ministries in the UK & Ireland. • Participate in Friend International’s training on sharing friendship & faith cross-culturally. • Work with the Friends International summer outreach team to plan and run activities for international students. • Develop friendships with international students. Show and share God’s love and grace to them. • Reflect on East Asian cultures and worldviews. • Explore ways to express the gospel and disciple people that make sense and are impactful for East Asian people. • Grow in praying for God’s work among East Asian people.
