Your primary role will be to support a German family in the care and education of two children (10 and 7 years old), allowing their parents to focus more on cross cultural work.
School age children are home schooled in the north of Cambodia. You would help a German family by working with the parents to oversee and run the home school program for their family.
Responsibilities will include homeschooling and childcare: - Teaching two children (grade 2 and grade 5) using a German home-schooling curriculum. One parent will also teach. - Supporting the family in other ways as necessary, e.g. supervise and play with the children. There is no need or expectation to learn the local language in an advanced way. A language crash-course at the beginning of your stay for two weeks will help you to be able to greet people and go shopping at the local market.
- A genuine love for children and a desire to care for them and their parents. - Previous experience working with children is desirable. - Organized but flexible, patient and approachable You should be a native German speaker. The role is for a female volunteer.
Living in provincial locations requires a high tolerance for difficult circumstances, such as unstable electricity, difficult roads, no supermarket, and inadequate medical facilities. There is a flat for volunteers on a safe compound along the river. In previous years, two volunteers shared the flat. Other missionaries live on the compound. The house of the German family is 5 minutes away. So, the volunteer does not live directly in the house of the family, which allows for room for privacy. The applicants will be required to dress according to local cultural norms which means modest dress.
Cambodia is looking for pioneers and partners to open new avenues for the Gospel, build up the local church, and disciple believers in the workplace.
