Strong Christian International school in Phnom Penh, Cambodia seeking a those curious or interested in international missions. The harvest is rich but the workers are few here.
Our focus group is missionary families and their children. Hope International School’s mission is to provide quality Christ centered education for the children of missionary families. By serving these families, HOPE is able to help missionaries stay longer in the field. A High School History Teacher would help us fulfill our mission by providing students with a high calibre education. Our school utilizes the IGCSE for lower high school and IB curriculum for upper secondary school years. The city of Phnom Penh is still a developing though most modern amenities are available. The low cost of living is one of the strong advantages of working here. For example in USD, a 4 bedroom 5 bathroom townhouse can be rented for $550/month. For fans of Boba tea, a decent drink can be had for $1. A bowl of noodles for $2.
Depending on the experience, successful candidates looking for a mission term of 1 year or less will be paired with a mentor teacher to teach grade 9-12 students. Fully qualified and certified teachers open to signing a 2 year contract (paid stipend) are assigned their own group of classes.
HOPE International School is open to working with aspiring teachers in their 3rd or 4th year university studies who are curious about international missions. We count it as blessing to have worked with hopeful student-teachers from America, Germany, Australia, and other G7 countries. For professional candidates looking for 2 year contracts, we ask for a bachelor's degree in their specialty area and a valid teaching certificate from their home country.
A heart for Christ and expectation that missionary life is not financially driven. There are several schools in Phnom Penh with much higher renumeration than HOPE. Yet God has given Hope International School a strong reputation for good teachers and a willingness to serve. The ability or willingness to live within humble means is a strength.
Cambodia is looking for pioneers and partners to open new avenues for the Gospel, build up the local church, and disciple believers in the workplace.
