Are you a visual storyteller? Come join the Philippines team to tell the stories of what God is doing in this nation, through the different ministries and communities that we serve in, in order to engage a much wider public for missions engagement.
The Philippines' evangelical church is growing, but there are still many opportunities for more workers and mobilized Christians to be engaged, praying for and actively supporting the maturing church. The national church welcomes outside help, to come alongside for resourcing the national church in mentoring, providing training of trainers, also supporting church planting and developing resources for unreached people groups and less resourced areas. There is a need for mobilizing both local Christians and worldwide believers for this, through communication and education, raising awareness of the needs and situation in the Philippines. Serve the growing church in the Philippines, with your visual storytelling skills and eye for reporting what God is doing around the nation. This is a creative role: plan, create and distribute visual media to spread the message. Use photography, videography, interviews, audio recording, and digital media to create everything from flyers and social media posts, to video and more, in order to raise awareness and empower Christians to take action in learning, prayer, volunteering, advocacy, and joining the team. Ideally, this position will be Philippines-based, but can also work from overseas. Locally, living in an urban context with good connections for travel and many modern conveniences will be possible. Travel and media trips to visit Philippines colleagues, for collaboration to tell their stories, will be needed.
- In consultation with Field colleagues, plan & design media resources that communicate clearly the situation and needs of the nation. - Where appropriate, visit and collaborate with colleagues and workers to gather stories and record raw media and stories using audio recorders, camera, video, and more. Craft into media resources that serve the whole Philippines Field in keeping with current needs and vision, mission and values. Use various apps, gear and consult with wider OMF communications and mobilizers if necessary. - Distribute finished media resources to colleagues locally and with mobilizers and candidate coordinators worldwide, post to website, social media.
Experience in creating visual media of various kinds, basic photography & video creation, an understanding of storytelling, and use of various apps such as Canva, video editing programs are a big advantage. Also beneficial is a knowledge of social media platforms and creating posts for these.
Be based in an urban context in the Philippines or in your home country. Be prepared to travel within the Philippines each year a few times, in order to visit colleagues to record material for media stories, such as interviews, photography, video, audio, and more. The majority of work can be from home or an office, flexible working location and hours. Bring your own camera and gear to use, or negotiate to buy basic gear with Field funds. Communication and collaboration are key, so meetings online as well as in person are necessary, including adhering to OMF International's guidelines for communications for speaking sensitively and respectfully. Training can be provided for OMF orientation to communications guidelines.
There is still a need to bring the Gospel in all its fullness to this diverse nation that is open to missionaries.
