Starting immediately, we want to launch new teams to plant churches among the least reached Khmer people and places in Cambodia – both rural and suburban.
Are you passionate about reaching the least reached with the Gospel of Christ? Commit for ten years, learn language and culture, love people, live among the lost. Pray, evangelize, risk opposition, and, by faith, pioneer a new community of believers in Cambodia. 98% of Cambodians are still without hope in Christ, and the vast majority of villages do not have a church to tell them about Him. The expanding cities attract multitudes. How could God use you and your team to bring light and hope into these situations of darkness and uncertainty? Church Planting is a long-term, relational, commitment. Candidates who take up this position will receive in-depth language/culture training for at least a year and should have a vision for serving on the field for a minimum of 10 years.
- Pray for Khmer people, and mobilize others to pray, such as home churches and prayer partners. - One year full-time cultural orientation and language study then continued language study part time alongside ministry duties. - Share the gospel/evangelise in communities that do not yet have a church. - Equip new believers to study and obey God’s Word & make disciples. - Train locals to be leaders who can teach the Bible to others.
- Conviction of God's call. - Determination to learn and speak the Khmer language; to learn, understand and appreciate the local culture. - A deep and growing dependence on God. - A desire to serve the Cambodian people. - Experience sharing the gospel and discipling others; desire to teach, train and mentor. - A pioneering spirit. - Willingness to work in a small team, often of different nationalities, including local Khmer partners.
- Must be willing to adopt a simple lifestyle with limited fellowship outside the team. - In the city, living situations can vary greatly according to the area and target group. - If working rurally, this requires a high tolerance for challenging circumstances, such as unstable electricity or internet, difficult roads, lack of conveniences such as supermarket, air conditioning, and modern medical facilities. - In rural situations parents may need to explore home-school options for their children, or use hostel/boarding schooling options.
Cambodia is looking for pioneers and partners to open new avenues for the Gospel, build up the local church, and disciple believers in the workplace.
