Theological Education
Theological Education

Many leaders and pastors in East Asia long for theological training and hunger to be equipped and mentored so that they can serve more effectively in their unique cultural contexts. How can you pass on the good teaching you have received to the next generation of local believers and leaders? Train seminary students for pastoral ministry and mission in East Asia. Help these theological students become more competent in biblical exegesis and exposition. Model the teaching of God’s Word in an effective and life-changing way. Embody a balanced integration of head and heart understanding of the Scriptures. Mentor Asian Christians in their growth as theologians and bible scholars and as they develop their theology for their local contexts. Equip lay leaders to shepherd their flock. OMF International wants to equip local Asian churches so they can become all that Christ wants them to be. Whether you are a reflective lay person, missionary or missiologist who thrives at bridging the gap between theological thought and changing cultural contexts; a professional theologian, biblical scholar or biblical counselor who desires to share your knowledge by formally and informally training and encouraging East Asian laity and ministers, and to develop a new generation of Christian educators; or a mentor who aspires to journey with fellow educators and theologians, OMF International desires to see you using these gifts for God’s kingdom work in East Asia. You could be an experienced pastor, missionary or missiologist who is able to guide outgoing local missionaries by sharpening their biblical worldview, equipping them with cross-cultural ministry skills and helping them understand contextualizing of the bible message for different contexts. Or you could be a linguist who can help theological students become more competent in biblical exegesis and exposition.. Other related activities you could be involved with include writing theological reflections in response to the changing contexts in East Asia, leading a pastoral group, organizing and leading theological consultations, providing leadership within a seminary, and encouraging locals to develop indigenous theology. We seek workers who: - Have a passion to see indigenous theology develop in East Asia. - Have a post-graduate theological degree in biblical studies, theology or missiology (Th.M. or higher, and a PHD will often be required depending on the institution).
 - Have a high proficiency in the local language where necessary or the willingness to spend time to attain a good command of it. - Have good communication, mentoring and coaching skills. - Are able to work with and under local leadership of the seminary and OMF. - Are humble and willing to learn as they teach. - Have the ability to raise their own financial support. Some situations may make provision to cover accommodation and other costs. - Are willing to live a simple lifestyle in line with the local OMF missionaries. - Have cross-cultural missionary experience. - Are flexible, adaptable, patient and approachable.
 - Demonstrate a strong pastoral trait. If you have the desire to serve East Asia through this ministry, contact us to share your vision and explore opportunities.
