Teaching / Lecturing

Empower communities by teaching or lecturing among its unreached peoples. OMF International believes that through serving East Asia as Christian educators, we have the rewarding role of not only sharing the benefits that literacy and education bring, but also the joy and hope of life in Christ to students and other educators. There is a high demand for education in many East Asian countries, especially post-war nations where the need to train a new generation of teachers and leaders is great. This presents opportunities for Christians to contribute to national development, as well as to make Christ known amongst academics and students who may become leaders tomorrow. There are a wide range of teaching opportunities - in government agencies, universities, schools, community clubs, private companies and rural villages. Subjects range from those in academia and formal education required by the national systems to those of social interest such as conversational languages (English, French, German, Italian, Japanese), cooking, computer skills, basic healthcare, photography, music, dance, etc. Whether you’re a trained educator or a passionate hobbyist, there are opportunities to build friendships and share lives with the people through teaching. You are required to serve in your teaching or lecturing role with excellence, integrity and love, and in the process seek opportunities to share the gospel through one-to-one, in groups, and often sensitively in social settings. The outreach through this ministry will also provide insights to communities which will help you pray for the unreached peoples and the work amongst them. Our goal is to see communities of disciples within all rungs of society who can pray and encourage further Christian witness in East Asia. We seek workers who have: • A deep and growing love for God.
 • A desire to serve the unreached peoples of East Asia.
- Ability to build relationships, share your faith and disciple others.
 • At least Masters degree (preferably PhD) qualification and at least one year’s experience in teaching and/or research for positions in higher education.
 • Appropriate teaching or lecturing qualifications and experience for positions in formal education (eg TESOL, CELTA, etc). • Experience in teacher-training or facilitating academic staff development is also welcomed. • Minimum of one year Bible college training or equivalent, preferably including cross-cultural experience. • Good communication and people skills. • Willingness to learn the local language and culture, where necessary. • Humility and willingness to learn from the local culture as you teach. • Willingness to live a simple lifestyle similar to that of the local missionaries.
